After a false start with last month’s Apple event, the long-awaited iPhone 12 family has finally been launched. There were a lot of rumors about these four new smartphones flying throughout the year, but now we are finally able to see what the iPhone 12 will have to offer consumers.
As expected, the iPhone 12 family comes in four different models: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini are nearly identical, aside from the smaller 5.4 “screen on the iPhone 12 Mini.
The iPhone 12 will have a different body than the previous generation, with smooth and flat edges and a unique uniform construction. It was designed to fit the new 5G technology in a smaller form, including new antennas. It will come in five colors, including black, white, red, green and blue.
The iPhone 12 will have a 6.1 11. display, similar to the iPhone 11. However, the display border will be less in 12. This means that it will be 11% thinner, 15% smaller and 16% lighter than the iPhone 11. There is a Super Retina XDR display, which will have 2x more pixels than the iPhone 11. This means that text will be faster and photos will look better, with increased dynamic range.
The glass new material used on the display will be the ceramic shield, which will be made in conjunction with Corning. This new glass has 4 times better performance than the iPhone 11, the biggest jump in reliability on Apple’s iPhone.
In terms of 5G, the iPhone 12 will automatically switch to using LTE if the 5G speed does not matter what you are doing to save battery power. 5G will then turn itself on when needed.
The iPhone 12 will have a new dual-camera system, with a 12MP wide angle camera with a new f / 1.6 aperture. It will also have an ultra wide angle camera with f / 2.4 aperture. Each camera has a four element lens, which means that there is a 27% improvement in low light conditions. Unknown facts about iPhone 12
New computational photography has also been developed to give more powerful new features. The iPhone 12 will be able to understand visuals with machine learning, using Smart HDR3 to automatically adjust highlights and shadows for great dynamic range. Smart HDR will also support 3 Night Mode, which will be available on all cameras on the iPhone 12 for the first time.
The video is also receiving an update, with the iPhone 12 featuring a new night mode time-lapse function. As you would expect from the name, this will allow users to create a time lapse in night mode.

As expected, the iPhone 12 Mini will have the younger brother of the iPhone 12. We weren’t sure what the difference between the two models was going to be, but it seems the only answer is size. With at least a 5.4 “display, the iPhone 12 Mini is billed as the world’s smallest, thinnest and lightest 5G phone. Also, it will be exactly the same as the iPhone 12.
This will be exciting news for users who are fed up with rapidly growing phone sizes, but who still want the same up-to-date technology.
You can buy the iPhone 12 Mini for only $ 699. However, if you trade in iPhone 10 or newer, you can get this handset for only $ 12 / mo. Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Mini will open on November 06, with phone shipping starting November 13.
Excitingly, both the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be able to use the new Apple ProRAW photo file format when it launches later this year. This means that users can shoot RAW photo files using computational photography features such as Smart HDR 3 and Deep Fusion. These files can also be edited in native photo apps and other professional editing apps – which of course means that Adobe apps will be able to read these files.
In terms of video, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be able to capture HDR video recordings for the first time. The 12 Pro Max will be able to shoot 10-bit HDR recordings, capturing 60x more colors. This will apparently be the first camera to record in Dolby Vision HDR and be capable of 4K resolution at 60fps. Users will also be able to edit and share their Dolby Vision files.
The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will also have a LiDAR scanner. It measures how long it takes to reach an object. Both models will essentially be able to see in the dark, meaning that if you’re shooting in low-light conditions, the LiDAR sensor will be able to instantly detect the subject and capture directly with Night Mode. This means that autofocus will be 6 times faster in low light.
The iPhone 12 Pro will start at $ 999 and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will start at $ 1,099. Pre-orders for both phones will open on Friday 16 October and phone shipping will begin on 23 October.
