The Black Phone Movie is an upcoming American horror-thriller film directed by Scott Derrickson and adapted from the same short story written by Joe Hill in 2004 by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. Co-produced by Derrickson, Cargill and Jason Blum from Blumha House Productions, the film stars Ethan Hawke and Jeremy Davis.

On October 30, 2020, it was reported that Scott Derrickson would be directing an adaptation of the short story “Black Phone” written by Joe Hill for the Blumha House production, with stars from the screenplay by Derrickson, regular collaborator C. Robert Cargill, Mason Thames and Madeline McGraw.

In January 2021, Jeremy Davis and Ethan Hawke starred in undisclosed roles. The principal photography of the Black Phone began on February 9, 2021 in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Columbus under the title Static from the EU / Screen Gems in Wilmington, North Carolina. James Ranson finished filming next month on March 27th.

Premise

A serial killer kidnaps Finn Shaw and traps him in a soundproof basement. After discovering the disconnected phone, Shah discovers his ability to transmit the voice of the killer’s former victims.

Release Date

In April 2021 the Black Phone was given a release date of 28 January 2022.
