Morbius Movie is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel. Distributed by Sony Pictures This is the third film of the Marvel characters in the Sony Pictures Universe.

The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa and co-written by Matt Sasama and Burke Sharples. Jared Leto stars as Michael Morbias alongside Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrus Gibson. Morbios turns into a vampire after trying to cure a rare blood disease.

Inspired by the Spider-Man characters starting with Venom (2018), Sony began developing one based on Morbios after announcing plans for new shared movies. By November 2017, Sasama and Sharples had written a script. Leto and Espinosa officially joined in June 2018.

Work began at the end of the year with further casting ahead of production in London in February 2019. Filming has been confirmed to be completed by June 2019.

Sony was scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia in late September – Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Venom were previously produced – but no release date has been set for the film.

Adria Arjona is in talks to introduce the film’s heroine Martin Bancroft in December; A month later, when Sony moved the release date to July 31, Matt Smith also starred.

Release date

Morbius will be released in the US on January 28, 2022 on Imax. It was originally set to release on July 10, 2020, before moving to July 31, 2020, three weeks later. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the film was first delayed until March 19, 2021, then until October 8, 2021 and January 21, 2021. Before going to January 28th 2022.
