What is Fast Charging or Quick Charging
Like I told you above, Fast Charging or Quick Charging technology is called Fast Charging or Quick Charging. Fast Charging was first developed by Qualcomm and introduced the Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0 technology in the market. After that many companies started working in this field and started bringing their own different fast charging technology. Nowadays all the companies are working on different technology of fast charging the phones so that the phone can be successful in fast charging.
Fast charging is also known by many names other than the name Quick Charging, such as VOOC Charge, Dash Charging and Flash Charging etc. These Fast Charging techniques have different names and stages. All companies give it different names. All companies like Oppo, Oneplus, Apple and Samsung etc. nowadays pay more attention to quick charging.
How Fast Charge Technology Works –
Fast charge technology depends on your phone’s charger wattage. The higher the wattage of your charger, the faster your phone will charge. Every smartphone has a power management circuit board. This determines how much wattage of battery the battery can take at any given time. In smartphones that do not have quick charge, it is limited to 10 watts.
The quality of quick charge is that it increases this limit. So smartphones can be charged quickly. The power management circuit of the smartphone makes it ready to take more power.

Qualcomm first brought its Fast charge 1.0 for fast charging. It used to get maximum power of up to 10 W. In this you used to get 5V and 2A. Its total wattage was 5V × 2A = 10 W. This led to a slight improvement in charging speed and the phone started charging slightly earlier than before.
Then came Quick charge 2.0. In this, customers used to get Maximum 18W charger and Minimum 10W charger. The output you get in Quick Charge 2 depends on the current level of your phone’s battery, how much it is or how much power it can accept. It used to get power of 5V and 2A = 10W or 9V and 2A = 18W or 12V and 1.67A = 18W.
This is followed by Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It is capable of charging slightly faster than 2.0. It has slightly changed the Quick Charge 2.0 outputs (10W and 18W) and increased from 3.6V to 12V to 200MV (millivolt). This means that earlier from 0 to 50 or 50% was charged from 18W but after 60% it would quickly come to 10W and charge the battery at 10W speed.
But this will not happen in 3.0. Now as the phone’s battery increases, it will slowly come down from 200-200 millivolts. That is, it has been improved slightly in charging speed than before. Nowadays the same technology is seen in most Mid Range Smartphones 3.0.
After Fast Charge 3.0, Fast Charge version 4 and Fast Charge version 4+ have also been launched which can be seen in the large processors of Qualcomm. This technology has not yet been used in many phones. It is currently available in only a few premium smartphones. You get up to 100W charger output in Quick charge 4 and 120W output in Quick charge or Fast Charge 4+. It can charge your smartphone up to 100% in 5 to 10 minutes. This can be seen in some expensive phones of Vivo and Oppo etc. to be launched in 2020.
It is not that Quick Charge technology can be used in every phone or in any processor. for example – You cannot use Quick charge 3.0 technology in phones with Snapdragon 600 processor. It varies for different processors.
