‘Vasco da Gama

Friends, I gave you a previous post “How did Vasco de Gama loot India?” Told you about how he started looting by searching the sea route to India. After Vasco da Gama, Portuguese, French and Dutch looted India a lot and then came the East India Company which adopted a new method of plunder. Today I want to tell you about the history of this plunder of East India Company, which I have understood by listening to the lecturer of late Shri Rajivji Dixit, the founder of Bharat Swabhiman.Due to a traitor

The East India Company was started in 1588 by some merchants from London. Now these London merchants together asked Queen Elizabeth for permission to trade in the Indian Ocean. When the East India Company started, it was declared a bankrupt company within a few days of its inception because it could not earn money. When the merchants of London went out for a sea voyage for the first time, they had returned from the Arabian Sea itself. After this, in 1596, three water ships left for London to travel but were destroyed by the storm on the way. Seeing such failures, the queen refused to give money for the journey, but due to the insistence of the traders, the queen had to agree.

Now on 31 December 1600, once again with the permission of the queen, he left for business and this time James Lancaster took command. They could not reach India even at that time, but kept doing business with the eastern countries and for 20 years the loss-making company finally reached the port of Surat in 1608. His happiness was not good because the country in which he was wandering for business for 20 years has come. Now, in the next two years, he set up his first factory in Machilipatam on the coast of Bay of Bengal in South India, but it failed.Due to a traitor

Although the East India Company had looted almost all the countries around the world on the pretext of trade, it did not earn as much money from India as any country. Now after the failure of Machilipatnam factory, he thought of setting up a factory in Surat. Surat was the richest state at that time because there was a lot of profit through import and export. Instead of cloth, steel and spices, India used to get gold of equal weight. That is why there were gold reserves in every house at that time in Surat and there was so much gold that they had to weigh the gold. Now the East India Company had come to India in 1618 on the pretext of trade, so it wanted permission to set up a factory to establish a foothold in India.

At that time the Emperor of India was Jahangir and then the British officer Thomas Raw wanted to meet the Mughal emperor. Now Thomas wrote a letter in English language to Jahangir, in which he wanted a trade license to do business in India. The word Trade meant robbery in those days. Jahangir knew all other languages but did not know English. For this reason, he asked one of his courtiers to read the letter and that court had already bought the British Asafar Thomas with the Puri scheme. Now Jehangir signed the trade letter of the East India Company due to the credibility of that court, and thus he got rid of the loot. Now, even when they used to go, they used to commit robbery by writing a signed letter of the emperor.

Now they also opened factories and started looting. The method of looting was such that the naive people of India could not understand their plans. He first sent about 900 ships from Surat to Sona and thus started plundering India called gold bird. Now he wanted to rule along with the looters but failed to rule for many years because most of the kings of India did not allow the East India Company to rule in their territory. Now at that time Bengal used to be a very big state, whose king’s name was Sirajudola.

Now East India Company had carried out many small military operations earlier which were not very successful. Now he thought of attacking Bengal in 1757 under the leadership of Robert Clive. Friends, now I want to tell you one thing which is not mentioned in the history of India but it is written in the books of the Library of London that in the Battle of Plassey Siraj-ud-daula’s army had 18000 soldiers and the East India Company army had only 350 soldiers. | Now Robert Clive felt that defeat was certain, so he asked the government of England to send troops but he refused because at that time his army was busy in war with the other country.

Now Robert Clive formulated the strategy and he took the commander of Siraj-ud-daulah Mir Jafar with greed for money and power on his side. Now when the time of the Battle of Plassey came, Siraj-ud-daula himself did not go to war because he knew that his soldiers would finish the British in a short time, but they did not know the treachery of Mir Jafar. Now Mir Jafar asked his entire army to surrender without fighting a war and in history it is called the victory of the British. Robert Clive took Siraj-ud-Daula’s army captive. Now Mir Jafar and Robert Clive planned and killed Siraj-ud-daula and Mir Jafar ascended the throne. Mir Jaffer appointed Robert Clive as the Governor of Bengal and thus the East India Company came to power as well.

Now the East India Company looted a lot from 1757 to 1857 and due to the nationwide revolt of the 1857 revolution, the East India Company had to leave India. Now the East India Company was finished, which could not do business, but the British sitting in power were still there, who kept their feet in India through India’s educational system and law and order. Now he started doing the work of plundering India while in power and in 1947 India got freedom from these British too. So friends saw that if the trade was not allowed by Jahangir and there were no traitors like Mir Jafar, then India would not have been a slave of the East India Company and the British and India would still be called the golden bird.
