Cellular Jail with winds of revolution

Cellular Jail

The Cellular Jail, witnessing the sacrifice of the revolutionaries, is now a legend of freedom. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the largest center of India, is a paradigm of beauty and attracts everyone with beautiful scenery. Even though there is life on only 38 islands among the 572 islands spread in the beautiful beauty of nature in the middle of the Bay of Bengal, this untouchability today defines it as the paradise of nature.

This is the historical Cellular Jail in Andaman itself. The construction of the Cellular Jail started in 1896 and was completed 10 years later on 10 March 1906. This prison, known as Cellular Jail, had 698 barracks (cells) and 7 sections which spread in seven directions to give a feeling of petal full. In the middle of it there was a bastion tower and three storeys in every section. It is still a matter of dispute as to why it was built by the British. It has been written in the history that in view of the first freedom struggle of India, the British government could fire. Due to which he probably took such a step.

British Labor leader Ernest Jones said that “the sun never sets in the English state and the blood never dries”. That was proved wrong by Indian revolutionaries. | The British had now realized that they had won the war not because of their bravery and battle skills but with the help of conspiracies, traitors and some Indian kings. To hide these weaknesses, where the English historians tried to reduce its impact by calling the First War of Independence simply “military mutiny”, the Indians were tortured intolerable and unforgettable to crush this struggle.

The British tried very hard to extinguish this fire with black water, but it erupted as a flame from the spark. Cellular Jail: The British brutally tortured the revolutionaries imprisoned in Andaman, but every scream that came out of the oppression raised the intentions of Mother India’s independence. Cellular Jail was used in various ways to break the morale and harassment of the revolutionaries. Instead of considering the freedom fighters and revolutionaries as political prisoners, they were considered as a general prisoner. This was the reason that Krantikario was imprisoned and tortured in the cells of Cellular Jail. Torture work and severe punishments were not given. Poor food, rust and moss with broken iron utensils containing dirty food containing insects, sprinkles, just two cans of dirty water to drink throughout the day, even urinating and defecating.

In such circumstances, under what circumstances did these patriotic revolutionaries bear the brunt of freedom by torturing them and thinking that they stood up in a hue and cry. In Cellular Jail, the prisoners had to roam like a bull in a crusher (Ghaani) every day and extract 20 pounds of coconut oil. Apart from this, we also had to do the work of harvesting 30 pounds of coconut coir. When the work was not completed, the beetroot was worn to wear the knee and vest, due to which the body would also get injured after rubbing it all day. On the displeasure of the British, whips were rained bare bare.

Kala Pani (Cellular Jail)

Whenever someone was hanged, a bell was played from the dome on the third floor to create panic in the revolutionary prisoners, whose voice was heard up to a radius of 8 miles. In order to instill fear, the revolutionary prisoners were forced to hang the person hanging and hanged. Veer Savarkar was deliberately kept in the front room of the gallows. Significantly, one of Savarkar’s brothers was also serving a sentence of black water here, but for three years he did not know about each other. From this, it can be understood that how lonely the British had kept the revolutionaries here. After hanging, the dead body was thrown into the sea. It was a dark chapter of the repression of the British, thinking about which the color still stands.

Today the Cellular Jail has become a holy shrine of freedom. Now, in its courtyard, the light-sounding program in the evening refreshes the memories of these days when our hero did not leave the spirit of patriotism even while serving the punishment of black water. Sea winds between the dirt and the damp and the whipping rains of the British used to cut off the human body. There was a sense of freedom among all of them, but there was a need to connect that history with the present. Cellular Jail carries with it a sign of oppression, that unique saga of valor, resistance, sacrifice and sacrifice that needs to be transmitted to the younger generation today.

Cellular Jail’s window still shows the tales of atrocities. It seems as if now the walls will cry. In fact, every person, especially the children of the country, must make a visit to Cellular Jail so that they can be disappointed about the value of freedom. Filled with patriotism, the patriots also painted their words on the walls of the Cellular Jail. People from far and wide pay homage to freedom at this holy place and offer their emotional shudhanjali and feel those PLOs by looking into the trough of history. Because of which we are breathing in the atmosphere of freedom today. Cellular jail may have become a thing of history with the changing times, but witnessing the struggles, sacrifices and tortures of the revolutionaries, this place will always remind that the freedom struggle was not found, it is the story of the struggle, sacrifice and sacrifice of revolutionaries.

Today, all audio-visual aids are being used to reach the story of Cellular Jail to the people, but it needs to be connected to the emotions of the people. There is also a need for ideological expansion through Cellular Jail so that this sentiment can flow to other parts of the country for which the fighters have surrendered forever. This shrine of freedom is our heritage that would realize the value of freedom for centuries. Will remain
